DHULIKHEL: Noting that incumbent government did not enjoy prerogative to present the budget, Nepali Congress central leader Dr Ramsharan Mahat today urged the government to build political consensus before bringing the new budget.
Talking to mediapersons at Kavre’s Banepa, Mahat said, “Agreement on the budget can be reached only after the reaching an understanding on key political issues.”
In the absence of legislature and prime minister, the NC leader said the president should take initiative to activate the interim constitution as a guardian and protector of the constitution to break the political deadlock.
In another context, Mahat clarified that only NC-led government could forge political consensus and bail the country out of the political crisis.
Venting ire on the UCPN-Maoist, Mahat accused the Maoist and the current government of ignoring the development activities of the country.
