Baglung farm popular



BURTIBANG: Four local youths from Narethanti, Bihu and Lekhani VDCs in Baglung have become an example through their initiative to bring economic revolution through agriculture. The youths have been engaged in agriculture and livestock development through Kanchan Agriculture and Herbs Training Farm. To promote entrepreneurship, the youths began raising goats by purchasing 16 goats 1.5 years ago. Now they have purchased nearly 500 ropanis of land to expand their enterprise. Chairman of the farm Jeevan Acharya said the size of their goat herd has reached 90 and the farm has also started growing cows, rabbits and ducks, besides engaging in beekeeping and organic farming. It aims at conserving and commercially producing locally available herbs. At present, it has started growing Sugandhawal, Kurilo and Chiraito among 15 different species of herbs grown in the farm. The farm has prevented four youths from leaving the country. — RSS
